A,B. COLLEGE

As my first college semester comes to an end there are so much that I found out about myself that changed. First I noticed that I've became such a stronger person, meaning that with these 16 weeks of classes it taught me to be mentally stronger. Reason is because ever week there was something new, either it was a pop quiz, a test , blogging, or having to a group project. There was no room to be weak and I feel that I have overcame it and I feel extremely proud of myself on handling these obstacles. Also another change that I noticed about myself is that I'm being an excellent time management person and reason why I think so is because I found time to do everything I wanted and everything that I needed to do, and with that it also taught me on how to be more responsible. However even though there were great moments and improvements that doesn’t mean that there were challenges, and boy were there challenges. First that big challenge that was dealing with and still dealing with is having to work part-time. Reason why is because there were some weeks that I was working closely to 40 hours and still managing on studying and doing my homework. art of the reason why I found this challenging is because I always had self doubt on if I can make it through and overcome this obstacle but I may never know until the end. That’s something that I'm going to have to face through out my college semester. With these challenges my immediately reaction was stress, and as a college student that’s very bad because it shows in your work and you can receive a bad grade on and that can cause more stress. But the way how I handle it is that I took one day at a time and with that I made sure that I had at least 30 minutes to myself, wither it was watching TV or just having a quiet time to myself trying to find some peace with myself. 

But even though there were challenges there were improvements. One huge improvement is that my writing has become much, much more stronger and since it is becoming more stronger my confidence in my writing is becoming much more better and I'm starting to feel that I can handle any essay that will come across me, and I feel very proud of myself of that and also is just being able to say that I am a college student. Those to are most definitely my biggest achievements. Some of the habit that made me accomplish my achievements is having a positive attitude on everything and being determined, and looking at the outcome of why I decided to attend college and that outcome is having a successful career and being happy with life. It was all about having the right mindset that made this semester possible for me. 

As being a college student doesn’t mean you can escape from that grading system that we all know. For me grades this semester was a wake up call for some of my classes. The one class that I was an actual wake up call for me was my  math class. Reason is because when my professor posted my midterm grade and when I seen that I was a F my heart dropped. I knew that I was having trouble with that class but never knew that I was having that much trouble. However with hard work and determination I was able to rise my grade from an F to a C plus just in time for finals. Overall being able to see my grades were very helpful.  

As this semester ends I'm starting to come up with goals for next semester. One goal that I am coming up with is just being true to myself and being determined to do my best at whatever I am doing.

15I. Joy Ride

For this week's involvement was kind of an accident. The reason why it was an accident was because since I'm a commuter I park in the Wintergreen building and since it's winter it's cold outside and I dont feel like walking to wintergreen. So I hopped on one of the shuttle buses so they can bring me to the parking garage. Turns out they didn’t bring me to the parking garage it brought me to Union Station, downtown New Haven and boy was I confused. During the drive I seen so many store and much diversity I also seen the school Yale and many stressed out Yale students. Overall even though at first I didn’t appreciate the drive it turned out it was ice to see other places of New Haven

15B. FINALS

Since finals are approaching fast, well next week. There's a lot of things that still need to get done like my INQ final video and my ENG portfolio. Overall I feel confident with finals coming up because I know I know through out the semester I did my best that I can do. Since finals are next week what I decided to do is call off work for this week so I wouldn’t I have that burden of taking a test going off to work and then staying up late to study for the nest finals so since I did cancel work I know that I will have a great amount of time that I can use to study and get things done. Also another way that I am preparing myself for finals is that this week I'm getting the proper sleep that a college student should get because even though I did cancel work for this week I know that I am still going to be up studying. However I feel that I'm not as stress as the other students are about finals coming up and it feels weird that I'm not stress sometimes I think that my classes are basic and that’s why I'm not stressed or trying to cram in last minute things to my professor. I also think that those who are cramming in last minute things are the ones that didn’t take this semester for granted and didn’t try there harder. I'm just glad that I'm not one of those students because I always told myself that I don’t want to experience that college level stress because I know that sucks from what I seen from my older brother. 

I'm just glad that we have winter break because it’s a well deserved break from all college students because the last 16 weeks everybody work their butts off. 

15a. Review on The videos

Throughout the last days of classes our prof. had our class watch each others rough drafts of our final videos. And there were very impressive videos that the class came up with. As I was watching my classmates videos I was coming up with ideas that I can use for my video and how I can reedit my video and make it professional but also I have that creativity aspect of it because creativity is highly important in this video because it is our final video. But one reoccurring theme that I was watching from the videos was that mostly all of them had music added to them and this seemed to please the professor because I guess that was creative to add music to the video. But to me I felt that is a was a gimmy because I knew that adding music was just plain and not so much creative because everybody was doing it. But I guess I was wrong because the prof. was pleased with it. But overall watching theses videos did give me some ideas to do with my video like how much words should be on the screen and how the background color should be and how the font should match and be a proper size. All these ideas were running through my head while watching the videos. Then when It was my turn to present my video the feedback that my peers gave me were very great because it gave me more ideas that I can use for my video. One common statement that everybody seemed to agree with was that I should add in my of me in it because in my video I do have a video clip that was created in BBC and its about 3 minutes long and if you count the time that I did its about 2 minutes so I have more to add in about more. 

Overall I feel that this video will be huge improvement from the last video I did.

Investment 

What does Investment mean? When I search the term Investment the def. they gave was the action or process of investing money for profit or material result, but since were talking about education I feel that the word means the time you spend on your studies and the outcome you get will be great.

portfolio-a flat case for carrying documents or drawings, the investments that are owned by a person or organization 

stagflation-an economic situation in which prices of goods and services continually increase, many people do not have jobs, and businesses are not very successful 

14B. Thankful

Since its Thanksgiving its that time period that we want to know what we are thankful for. To me the biggest thing that I am thankful for is that I am able to live another day because I'm still living. But I'm also glad that I get to see the world more and what it has to offer me in the future. But also how I can adapt to it. 

Another thing that I am thankful is that I am to continue my education because not be many can do this because of financial problems at home and they can afford the tuition of the school led alone the room and board if they choose to live on campus. I know for me I'm thankful that I have a carrying mother who believes in her child that he will do good in life. Even though she gets on my nerves I'm thankful fr having a strong mother that is able to put me through college and still manage to do things that we want to do. 

There's a lot to be thankful for that its hard to name because you want to make it sound nice but you don’t think about it fully.   

14A. Stress

Wow Finals are approaching really fast, it is very true what people say that college semesters go by very quickly because in the next two weeks finals will be here.  

It sort of feels early to start thinking about finals because back in high school our finals would be in June not in December but I know its something that I will adjust to. But for the next weeks I know that I will experience some serious stress with cramming in all the last minute assignments and make up some things to pass the class, but I know that if I go in with a great mind set and a positive attitude I know that I will be ok. 

For this week we only had two days of classes because of Thanksgiving, and for me I took this time to think and reflect on myself and give myself some "me time". Reason why I did  that is because I want to be less stress and to be calm but that’s just hope because I know in reality I'm going to be very stress. 

So that is the reason that this week im having some "me time" because it is important that people take time for themselves because without I feel that you will lose yourself in the madness. So these are the reasons why I take me time and trying to be less stress with everything before the madness and craziness starts. 

But overall the only thing that I trying to do is to keep my calm on everything especially on my family because I don't want them to be stress because I'm stressing over things that are completely out f their element. 

13B. Final project

Creativity is one of the most important aspect of this video project. Even though everybody has some creativity in them I feel that I lack that because I usually go with the simple things that gets things done. So for this part on the video I will kind of be lacking in, but I feel that if I put in  lot more effect into my project I know that there will be some creativity in my project.  See the Idea that I was thinking about was making a skit for my topic which is how to deal with stress. Reason why I thought about making a skit is because its creativity and it shows what the problem is and how they deal it with it and what the outcome looks like. So since part of the guidelines in the project is to be creativity and what not creativity about creating a skit about my topic. I feel that by me creating a skit it does express creativity in my video.  

the plot of my skit is a young student being over whelm with all the course work they had due in the following week and then a friend of the student passes by them and the they have a conservation and in that conversation that friends gives the student some advice about how they can deal with stress and how they can handle it. I feel by that it does express creativity. I also was thinking about putting some background music to make the scene more dramatic and more intense and that can be creative. hopefully this project I can be able to express some creativity on this video.

13.I

for this weeks involvement I attend a meeting I set up with the math tutor and lets say its was a great experience. Reason why it was great was because they were so very patient with me and was able to fully explain some of the mistakes I was doing and how I should approach theses questions in the future. I felt that they were more understandable than my professor is and that shows a lot to me because Im paying for a class that a professor doesn't fully explain the material being presented to the class, I do recommend students to pay a visit to the math center located in the basement of Englment.  

13A. final project

For this WEEK'S Blogs A post our professor is asking her students what college level thinking are we putting in to our final draft of our video projects. 

My video topic for my final video is How to Deal With Stress? Even though it’s a good topic to talk about because there is a lot to talk about especially with finals coming up and how mostly all freshman's had difficulty registering for class for next semester. Bu the question that I have running through my mind is how can I make this into a college level thinking.  

So the ideas that I have came up with were making a skit to show how students  are facing adversity in there studies and how they can overcome the struggle and succeeding into their course work.  

The other idea that I had was setting up an interview with the counseling services and how they see students coming in for a meeting so they can talk about how stress they are feeling about life and they studies, and ask the counselor for a typical response(s) they might tell that student.  

With these ideas that I have came up with my thing is how can I might this into college level thinking because our professor doesn't want us to interview students because she feels that its too basic and now really a college level thinking. What she wants from us is us thinking critical and having different aspects to the problem or question. 

But somehow I know that I can make whatever idea I use into college level thinking because I am determine to pass the course and get a good grade on the assignment and to prove that I am capable of doing this project unlike my last project for our midterm video projects    

12I. Classes

For the week of November11 and November15 involvement I was able to register for class for next semester. I was really glad that I was able to register early so I could pick out the classes that I wanted and the right time I wanted also. The courses that I will be taking next semester are

• Social Work 200 

I feel that next semester I would feel more free due to the fact that I was able to pick my classes. I do look forward to next semester also fir a new beginning

It is related to an interdiscipline or an interdisciplinary field, which is an organizational unit that crosses traditional boundaries between academic disciplines or schools of thought, as new needs and professions have emerged
