12B. Re-thinking

During this weeks reading a few INQ questions came through my mind. Some of the questions that I came up with were
  • How important is a Liberal Arts Education
  • Why is it that many people look at this degree as a throw away
Through this weeks reading I definitely was second guessing weather or not if I should continue a to stay at Southern and receive a Liberal Arts and Social Work degree or go to a trait school and start my practice as a Social Worker. These thoughts were consistently running through my mind. Reason is because part of me didnt want to continue learning things that I may not be interest in because that’s not what I was paying for. I just want to start learning things I Social Work because that’s what I was paying. And also I was having self doubt on whether or not I can do it. These were the reason why I was having these thoughts
But after reading the articles and starting thinking on how beneficial a liberal arts education is made me believe that I was at the right place. Reason is because what if through the years I start to feel that I don’t want to become a Social Worker by taking classes at Southern I could be able to change my major to whatever interested me in my courses. That’s I why I was re-thinking my thinking and was glad that I chose to attend a school that offer both a liberal education as well an education that would let me practice my field.

12a. Liberal Arts Education

What is the value of a Liberal Arts Education? Well too the value of this type of Education consist of a student being a well rounded individual. But its true value is that it teaches student of to thinking openly, meaning that there able to think more that what they are capable of, making them more flexible. It gives a more broad range of knowledge. Also besides thinking skills students are also giving the chance to improve there vocabulary and by doing so they able to advance their communication skills and having an upbeat or cognitive conversation. This is the value of a Liberal Arts Education.
However there is also a downside to having a Liberal Arts degree. For starters its one the degrees that takes the longest, not because its hard but its because your learning everything. The importance of this degree is that your learning multiple degrees such as, english, social work, communication, and etc. For example if someone is a Social Work major its important that you’re a well rounded person who is able to be flexible ith their conversations and thinking skills. Also its important to know another language because you may have clients that barely speak any English and by you having a Liberal Arts degree with your Social Work degree your still able to communicate you that person because you probably took a language during your studies.
Having a Liberal Arts Educations brings you out if your confront zone in short words to say, and that’s what major job companies want from there employees and by having an LAD you stand out of the crowd and you have a better chance getting that job you always wanted.
As you can see having a Liberal Arts Education has many advantages as well as having disadvantages.

11B. Questions and Answers

For this week all the students in Prof Guarino's classes had to come up with questions and answers. Even though she has many students I was able to brows through most of all her students by using her blog as a resource (her blog, www.inq101fall2013.blogspot.com) and I was able to read some of the blogs that her students have posted. And I must say there were so many great questions that her students were asking. I felt that they understood what the prof. was asking in her blog B post for this week, and how they were great at predicting at what a pop quiz question might be. I know that our prof. would be proud of her student.
However there was one blog post that stood out to me and that was http://liveloveandlaugh1.blogspot.com/. I felt that her questions were questions that our prof. would ask on a pop questions. It required some serious thinking and had us coming up with arguments as well.  her questions werent to broad and not straight to the point like my questions were. I feel that she excelled what the prof wanted and gave both a great question but in this case questions and also she gave great responses that were very well written.
With http://liveloveandlaugh1.blogspot.com/ blog B post this week I can indeed see some of her questions in one of our pop quizzes. Reason is because it while reading her questions I saw myself coming up with responses of my own and how I can relate them to other readings we did in the past in this course.
Now that I have some knowledge on how some of the questions will be presented on a pop quiz I feel that I would be ready for my quizzes in the future and feel confident too.

11A. INQ Question

Without the invention of Computers, do you believe people would be more creativity? Explain your answer.
I believe that people would be less creativity without the invention of computers. Reason is because they has been many things that have been invented with the help of a person having a computer. In todays day and age children are able to create app with computers and how creative is a childs mind. Also I believe that since kids are being creative by using computers to create these apps then imagie what they can do when they get older.
Also without the inventions of computers we would have cell phones because in order to understand the complexity of the interior design of the the software we would need to the basic knowledge and that’s what the computer is used for.
Also we would have the internet either. And the internet is highly important to society because it has the answers that everybody needs. Now that’s creative. A person creating a instrument that tells people what they are doing wrong and how they can better themselves.
I personally feel that my question is a high school question. Reason why I feel that my question is a high school questions is because its to broad and to predictable and that’s not what college questions are. I also feel that it very opinionated, and that’s not a very good college questions because to me college questions are going in depth with things and creating arguments and other things. And with this question I feel that you don’t have to go in depth with this question because its very broad and striaght to the point.
This is what I can up with as my question and my response to my question and how I felt about it.

11V. Innovation

when I searched the term Innovation I found that it meant, The term innovation can be defined as something original and, as consequence, new that "breaks in to" the market or into society. One usually associates to new phenomena that are important in some way. A definition of the term, in line with these aspects, would be the following: "An innovation is something original, new, and important - in whatever field - that breaks in to (or obtains a foothold in) a market or society
Two Similar Words
Fantasy: something that is produced by the imagination : an idea about doing something that is far removed from normal reality
Origination:  to begin to exist : to be produced or created

11I. Writing Center

This week I paid a visit to the Writing Center because I was writing an essay and I wanted a pair f fresh eyes looking at my writing and seeing if they can comprehend what I am talking about. During my visit I had gained a lot of knowledge about myself as I writer. I am highly thankful for their thoughts and thankful that they were able to sit down and read my essay in entirety.
For those who don’t know where the writing center is located, its located on the ground floor of Engelment , and I do recommend students to pay them a visit.

10I. Spooky Night

Since this week was Halloween Southern invited an actual ghost hunt named Lorriane Waren which is now famously known for the hit blockbuster film The Conjuring.
This spooky event was held on October 30, 2013 in the Lyman Center and started at 8.
I typically don’t support super natural things but since Halloween was here I thought I might as well get in the spirit.
Throughout the presentation if you want to call it that Lorriane showed many pictures of actual ghost which freaked me out. The one picture that freaked me out the most was the picture that was taken in a graveyard that showed a women with a ghost sprit... Reason why this one stood out to me was because it was the only pic that looked real and legit. So through out the night I had that image stuck in my mind.
Overall it was a great presentation and if I could do it again I would.
